Things to see and do near the Cottage / Gite in Brittany

The self catering gite / cottage is located in the Cotes d'Armor, in Northern Brittany, giving you easy access to a large variety of places to go and things to do. Everything described and pictured on this site is within an hour of the gite, so just look around for great ideas on where to go during your holiday in Brittany.

Northern Brittany has a host of beautiful towns and cities, where you can just sit back and relax over a coffee and watch the world go by, wonder around looking at all of the wonderful buildings or browse around the fantastic shops and colourful markets. The gite is within easy reach of the medieval city of Dinan, the walled city of St.Malo, Rennes the capital of Brittany, the seaside town of Dinard, Cancale and it's world famous oysters, the world heritage site at Le Mont St Michel, and Combourg, the château where Chateaubriand, the leader of the French Romantic movement, lived.

Things to Do

The coast north of the gite is known as the Emerald Coast, it is rocky and very picturesque and has some absolutely stunning beaches: St Jacut de la Mer, St Cast le Guildo and Le Val-André. Or for the more adventurous, just drive along the beautiful coast and find one of the many other beautiful beaches, parking is easy and is mostly free.

For the more active you could try sailing, windsurfing or kayaking with the saling school at Jugon les Lacs, cycling around the nearby lakes and along the beautiful rivers and canals (a variety of bikes are available for your use), golf at one of the nearby golf courses: La CorbinaisTréméreuc Golf Club, Golf des Ormes, Dinard Golf or St.Malo Golf and Country Club, horseriding at the equestrian centre, less than ten minutes away, fishing at one of the nearby rivers and lakes or swimming in the open air pools at Jugon les Lacs and Broons, less than ten minutes away.

If you have children then there is plenty to keep them entertained, apart from the  activities already described, there's the wonderful Grand Aquarium at St.Malo, with it's stunning 360 degree shark tank and Nautibus, the zoo and chateau at La Bourbansais, the adventure park at Cobac Park, combine a trip to Le Mont St Michel with a visit to Aligator Bay, or try the huge mazes at Labyrinthe du Corsaire.
